Are you into playing music on the golf course? At my club here in Canada, we started something called the Funky Sundayz where players teeing-off after 3 PM on Sundays are invited to bring their Bluetooth speakers and get their funk on… or whichever genre they’re into.
I don’t know if it’s the music that loosens-up the players, but things certainly tend to get a little slack. It definitely gets funky out there, but I think it’s refreshing! You see more smiling and laughing as compared to the usual game-faces and frustration.
Alcohol sales are up!
When your club doesn’t have a beverage cart, stock up before the round!
Dress code is out the window
A collared shirt won’t help his game… and his tank-top won’t hurt yours
Snack game is on-point!
The focus and frustration of trying to play well is shifted aside making room to appreciate good company… and good snacks!
Bogey or birdie, everyone is smiling
We attract a diverse group of players of all skill levels and fun formats make it fun for everyone!
Are the other groups on the golf course smiling?
I’d say that we tend to get a few odd looks, but no real complaints… maybe they’re just afraid to mess with our crew in their muscle shirts? Or, when one of us drives it 300 down the middle, they realize we’re not just a bunch of yahoos.
What about you?
Are you for or against music on the course?
What else can we do to make the sport more fun and accessible?
