Vila Galé Lagos

Absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Went for Festive Bridge over Christmas - came back 6 days early. Terrible food, terrible service, no heating in public spaces, terrible location, no shuttle bus into town. Terrible lighting in bedrooms - couldn't see to work the safe or put makeup on. Not remotely festive. Do not go.

I am not a guest but neighbour but can go to their Spa for swimming. Very well organised and not very expensive. Kind staff. We had a concert there for our choir in a beautiful room with good accoustics. Glad to have friendly neighbours with excellent customer service!!

Very nice experience. Close to the beach, nice staff and good breakfast. The outdoor swimming pool is huge. Lots of olive trees all over the place, perfect for families and well organised. The playground and swimming pool for kids are not situated in the same area as the outdoor swimming pool so you can take advantage of the quiet of the pool without hearing the kids scream 😄 (I have 3 kids and they make a lot of noise).

Set expectations. All Portugal beaches are public beaches, so no hotels are right on the beach. You can access the beach from this hotel, however you have to walk across a railroad track and pass a large homeless camp. Pizza restaurant on property is nice, and so is the breakfast buffet. Rooms stay with AC off when no one around, and many of our party had issues with the room thermostats. Pool area is great and hotel bar is superb.

Overall, the hotel was very nice and we had a good stay. However, the service at the pool bar was not very good and could definitely be improved. The Kids Club was fine, but it would benefit from having more toys and activities for the children. Also, the tiles around the children’s pool are extremely slippery, which felt unsafe and should probably be addressed. Another thing to note is that there are no restaurants immediately by the hotel, so you’ll need to either walk a bit or drive if you want to eat elsewhere.
