Edit after the answer Tauern Spa for my comment- noone has never thoroughly reviewed and clarified directly with me this situation. Yes, I do not recommend this place. This is a place which discriminates families with more than three kids. The cashier was very rude and unemphatic. They offer family tickets, and it is not a place adapted for family with three kids. We visited Tauern Spa with my family- four kids, two adults and friend. We bought 1.family ticket- 2+3. (This is a day ticket for pools-kids, pools and sauna-adults) We received 5 wristbands to enter end exit the pools- two for adults, and three for kids. 4red and one orange. We get the information which one is which, but when we went with all kids to the changing room, noone knew which one was for adults. I tried to ask someone from the stuff inside, but it was impossible. Only one adult wristband was to open family changing room- 1x1m room- there was one bench, and four clothes hangers ( for two adults and three kids) 2. One Kid evening ticket for our fourth kid ( we visited this place after skiing, so it was the best solution)- wristband didn't have acces to any changing room or box for clothes. He changed in our family changing room and it was really horrible option - one small changing room one bench 4 hangers and 6 people. 3. Adult evening ticket for our friend.- he received an orange bandwrist with access to the family changing room. Me and my husband decided to visit sauna. Our kids stayed with our friend for 15 minutes. We didn't know which red wristband is for adult. We took our friends' wristband because it was orange and certainly for adult. In the exit it turned out we have to pay extra 20€ because adult evening ticket doesn't include sauna. We tried to explain the situation- a cashier saw in the computer, that two adult bands visited sauna, at the same time. I asked her which red band was for adult - she said that's obviously she doesn't know it because it's red like 3 others. When I asked her how customers can recognize it, she told me that we received the information buying tickets, and we should have remembered it. Besides I heard she was tired of talking with me so we should pay and go away. It was second time in this place. Last year was similar- they didn't have enough boxes for clothes,so they gave us only one small box for 6 people. I don't recommend this place. They want to make money but the services they offer is not premium.

I don’t usually write reviews but I feel I should this time because it might be helpful for swimmers like myself. I went with my family so they could spend a few hours while I was swimming. When I started to swim in the outdoor swimming pool I was told that I had to leave because there was a problem with the closure curtain (I don’t know why they needed to repair it during opening hours). They told me that it was going to be repaired in ten minutes. I waited for two hours and it was still closed. It was already lunch time and we had to leave since we had to meet our friends at a nearby restaurant. I decided to raise the issue to the receptionist. She first told me that I should have told them before (I didn’t understand why, because I had been waiting for the swimming pool to reopen). Then, she called her superior, who came and told me that the swimming pool was about to open. When I told him that I had to leave he just told me that many parents go there “just to accompany their children and see them playing”. I told him that it wasn’t my case, and he just shrugged off. I wasn’t looking for a reimbursement for my family, but a more empathic attitude would have been appreciated.

My experience at Tauern Spa Kaprun was appalling from beginning to end. We were greeted not by staff, but by a sign announcing “no availability.” When we entered reception to ask for clarification, we were met by a brisk, dismissive woman who appeared irritated by our presence. There was no attempt at warmth, explanation, or basic hospitality — just hostility and indifference. We then discovered you can book online — but at an additional €10 charge. You must also bring your own towel or pay €5 to rent one. For a facility presenting itself as a premium spa, the constant add-ons feel cheap and opportunistic. At 10am sharp, walk-ins are cut off entirely and you are forced to book online, something that is not clearly communicated beforehand. To be clear: this is not a serene spa experience. It is a loud, busy water-park atmosphere marketed as luxury wellness. The most unacceptable part occurred when leaving. I accidentally tapped my wristband near the solarium area, unaware this would trigger a €7 charge — there is no clear signage warning that tapping alone results in payment. The staff member at the exit aggressively insisted I had “used” the solarium and refused to listen when I calmly explained that I had not. He bluntly stated it “doesn’t matter” whether I used it or not — tapping meant I had to pay. Only when I asked him to check the CCTV (which he confirmed exists) did he suddenly back down and say he would “let me off this time.” Let me off? For something I demonstrably did not do? To make matters worse, one member of our group had cut her finger and required a plaster. When we asked for one, the same staff member dismissively said, “Just get her a child’s one, that will do.” The tone was flippant and unprofessional — particularly concerning in a facility that should prioritise guest safety and care. The interaction ended with him telling me, “I do not want to see you here again,” after I expressed how unacceptable the treatment had been. For a supposed wellness facility, the irony is astonishing. The hostility, pettiness over minor charges, lack of transparency, and complete absence of customer care was shocking. This establishment appears far more focused on extracting money from guests than providing relaxation or hospitality. There are many excellent wellness facilities in Austria that understand professionalism and respect. This is not one of them. Avoid.

We quite enjoyed our stay here during our ski vacation. The pool and sauna after a day of skiing are a great way to relax and spend downtime. Breakfast and dinner buffet made dining easy during our trip. Wish there were more beef options as most of the meat served was pork….We also appreciated the textile sauna (rare find in Austria) and avoided the naked areas. Wish they included more towels and had a non-naked hot tub for the hotel guests. Wait staff was nice and polite, but roomkeeping could have been better. Great option and location for the whole family!

Our Deluxe lounger experience was everything you could imagine in a amazing spa resort in the mountains. Lots of space, good privacy, relaxing with beautiful scenic views. Everything was very clean and staff was helpfull. The breakfast was also outstanding. Overall 10/10.
