Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna

My stay at Steigenberger El Gouna was a major disappointment right from the start. I had booked a room with a lagoon view, but upon arrival, I was given the exact same category as my colleagues who had not paid for an upgrade. When I politely asked at reception to be moved to the category I actually paid for, I was met with an arrogant receptionist who dismissively told me that a change wasn't possible and that I should just be happy with the "nice room" I had. To make matters worse, I contacted my travel agency, Sphinx Travel, to request a refund for the price difference. They informed me that, according to the hotel reception, I had been offered a better room and had turned it down—which is a complete lie. Sphinx Travel then accused me of only wanting my money back. This behavior from both the hotel and the agency was condescending and unprofessional. There is absolutely no reason to prepay for a higher category just to "want a refund" later; I simply wanted the room I paid for. While the room was spacious, the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. There was also a persistent, periodic humming sound (likely a generator or nearby machinery) that was audible throughout the night. The amenities were equally disappointing. Although there was a Nespresso machine, not a single capsule was provided (despite the policy supposedly being 4 capsules per week). Additional capsules cost €1 each. Furthermore, they only provided two small bottles of water per day. In a hot climate where you cannot drink tap water, this is insufficient. Even after asking room service, the supply remained inconsistent. On a positive note, the hotel grounds are very well-maintained, and the boat shuttle to the nearby golf course is a lovely touch. However, the dining options are limited. The food quality was average at best, and the buffet selection was modest. While the morning coffee tasted very good, it was unfortunately served almost cold on several occasions. At check-in, I felt pressured into installing an app just to access hotel services. Apart from the restaurant staff, who were pleasant, most of the personal service I encountered was unfriendly and unhelpful. I will not be returning. It is baffling how two hotels under the same brand in the same country can be so different. Having stayed at the Steigenberger Soma Bay last year—which was superior in every single way—this stay in El Gouna was a disappointment and a massive step down.

Best service. The Staff are do friendly. The food is so testa speciellt The japanese restaurant. The housekeeoer of our building was really doing a Great job. Animation People specially Carol is Amazing. We Will return back.

We had a fantastic stay at the Steigenberger Golf Resort in El Gouna. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and very well maintained, making it easy to feel comfortable right away. The location next to the golf course is perfect and adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The service was excellent – the staff was always friendly, attentive, and professional. We also really enjoyed the varied and pleasant entertainment program, which was fun without ever being intrusive. Highly recommended – we would definitely come back!

We stayed at the Steigenberger Golf Resort in El Gouna for 9 nights (10 days) with my wife and our little boy, Leo — and it was truly an unforgettable family vacation! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We got there quite late at night, but the staff still welcomed us with a smile and offered us dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was a lovely surprise after a long journey. Our room was spacious, beautifully clean, with a super comfortable king-size bed, a small terrace, and an incredible view over the lagoon. Every morning felt peaceful and relaxing. The staff at the hotel were simply outstanding — always smiling, friendly, and genuinely caring, especially with little Leo. A special mention to the restaurant team: Ahmed Anas, Ahmed Fawzy, Ibrahim (“Miam Miam”), Abanoub, the manager Mohamed, and of course the talented chefs. They made us feel at home every single day. Also, huge thanks to the lifeguards: Mossad, who played football with Leo; Tarek, who built pyramids in the sand with him; and Mohamed, all of them always there when we needed help. Their kindness made our stay even more special. The food was excellent and varied with different theme nights, and the outdoor heated pool was just perfect. We also enjoyed the 24-hour gym, the sauna and spa area, and the beautiful private beach just a few steps away. There were plenty of activities too — from aquagym and stretching sessions to guided kitchen tours and visits to El Gouna. The city center is very close, and you can easily get there on foot or by tuk-tuk for about 50 pounds, which is super convenient. Overall, this was an amazing experience from start to finish. We can’t recommend the Steigenberger Golf Resort enough and will definitely come back one day!

We’ve really enjoyed our stay here. Hotel is beautiful. We’ve made very good use of the facilities every single day including the gym and spa. Khaled has cleaned our room every single day immaculately. We also love having a chat with him every morning. He always wants to make sure we’re happy with our room and our stay here. He’s a credit to the hotel.
