Simola Hotel Country Club & Spa

Played Simola these days. The course is really stunning, we liked it a lot. Some spectacular Tee shots and holes. The course was in very good condition. Picking up the golf cart you need to walk through a kind of garage, a bit strange. What I wonder is, why this high end golf course does not provide nets to warm up?! There would be enough space to set up some. Also would it have been nice to see a marshal who controls the pace of the game....three four balls on a par 4? Anyway, we had lovely company during our round. Will come back!

We were a three ball and a two ball booked to play Thursday 8th January, when booking in at the proshop we were never advised the state of the course due to the lack of rain which is understandable. However on a scale of 1 to 10 the course I would say rated 3. The sad thing is that from management in the proshop the difficulties due to lack of rain was not communicated. The fees were not relevant to the state of the course. Perhaps it would have been fair to be advised of the negative state and offered an incentive discount due to the conditions. To top that the halfway house offerings on the day were hamburgers and pie and gravy. The patties were dry and the rolls were certainly not fresh. The pie was basic but not great. Certainly not up to the standard of what would be expected from a club of Simola's reputation. In fact pretty poor. So a day that was eagerly anticipated by our group turned out to be a total disappointment. Even our arrival was not a great experience we arrived early from our holiday venue in Wilderness and went for a coffee upstairs at the dining room and were refused. Then one of the staff members noticed us and brought us a coffee in the lounge area. In a nutshell there was no effort, taking into account the poor state of the course, to make the day memorable. Excellent experience! All the staff were friendly and helpful, the golf course is looking immaculate! Can’t wait to visit again.

This place is stunning! We stayed for two nights only, unfortunately! But we will be back because the location, service, and food were impressive! The breakfast buffet was magic! Everything that we liked was there. We both ordered an omlette, and it was cooked to perfection. The room was big and clean, the spa area is not very big. It is not high season at the moment, and there were only a few people in the hotel, so it didn't feel overloaded. The gym has everything what is needed for a good workout. Lovely people are everywhere, and the golf course is Micky Mouse!

The golf course is in impeccable condition, offering phenomenal views and challenging holes. Despite encountering rain for about seven holes, the experience remained thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and Ash, the starter, provided a warm and welcoming introduction. No complaints at all—thank you, Simola, for a fantastic experience!
