Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden

Despite being straightforward in our communication, we felt we were taken advantage of throughout our stay. We only spent one night at Quinta Splendida before relocating to a more suitable accommodation that fit our budget. The experience was frustrating, particularly with a €150 cancellation fee. It seemed as though every aspect of our stay was subject to additional charges; for instance, we paid an extra €70 for the second guest, which was not justified by the breakfast offered. Additionally, there was a daily €15 fee for access to the onsite spa and gym, which was quite limited. We are incredibly disappointed that this hotel imposed such excessive fees while we sought a pleasant start to our time in Madeira.

Location Location Location. Hotel is set in their own botanical garden. Exotic plants all flowering in December. Local village just outside the gate with coffee shop and small supermarket. 2 minutes if main motorway. 10k each way to Airport or Funchal. Less than €10 to either by taxi.. Rooms are dated and tired but very clean and well serviced. Restaurants are very good. Will be back.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels and this is the only one that will stick in mind as I place I absolutely want to stay again. Not only was it set in beautiful grounds with stunning views but it was also peaceful. My garden room was huge (honestly, I’ve lived in smaller studio flats) and without prompting from anyone, the staff left a bottle of chilled sparkling wine in my room as a birthday gift. It was so thoughtful. I spent almost an entire day in the spa making use of all the facilities as well as enjoying a bamboo massage (I highly recommend this) and just chilling out on a lounger reading a book. I ate at the Galeria and Siddartha Bar, both had good food and good service. This is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. I can’t wait to go back.

My wife and I had a great week and both of us would strongly recommend. All staff were friendly and helpful without exception. We also had the Spa Suite package and like the previous post, we too didn't initially understand all of the benefits. However the a la carte arrangements were explained to us when dining in the Galeria restaurant on the second day. Perhaps the reception could issue a full written guide when guests check in. The indoor pool in the Spa was slightly disappointing as the water was very cold - almost as cold as the outdoor pool. Gardens and views are superb. We didn't take any excursions but did spend a day in Funchal using the service bus which stops almost directly outside the hotel (2.6 euros per person each way). Great if slightly scary bus ride up and down the cliff roads around Funchal! We will definitely return - perhaps in October next time as November was windy.

Amazing place with its own botanical garden. I proposed to my fiancé there and the staff helped arrange everything, with phographer, dinner and beautiful flowers at the hotel room. Also, they gave us an absolutely amazing service during the week we stayed, we felt very special. Thanks - and we will be back!
