Quinta do Lago South Course

Beautiful, well-laid out course. Challenging but not too much so. And in the off-season, not over-crowded...

Great design and challenging course. Lack of short game practice facilities as reserved for only members and private lessons which is unheard of for any resort of this magnitude and a huge minus. Course couldn't be faulted though as in top condition. Something for the owner to look into and maybe invest into one of the most important parts of the game which is the short game family. Grass tees would also be a plus rather than the mats with canapés above which are to protect from the sun but can be reached with a fully released longer iron, hybrid wood etc.

Very nice golf course. Great routing with some wonderful holes with no gimmicks to them, unlike some courses in the area (read Vale de Lobo Ocean!). Good conditions for the time of year and a very enjoyable course to play. Generous fairways, with strategic bunkering providing just enough challenge and shot management. We would agree however with an earlier review from PJ Blake from Monterey, California who remarked about the service level - or lack thereof - from a club/course of this stature and cost ($$$). Like PJ, we too have played Pebble Beach, Spyglass, etc. as well as the likes of Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, and others of such pedigree and the service level at QDL could be better. You have a great golf course, but need to up your service game. Regardless, the golf course was great and our favourite of the 6 we played in the Golden Triangle the past 2 weeks.

6 Stars! I have played 70 courses in South Africa. This one, i must admit takes up my number 1 spot. Excellent condition, excellent course design, friendly helpful staff and an overall satisfying experience. I will be back!

Played here last week and all I can say is, what a course! Was on holiday in Albufeira, but took a morning out to sneak a round in. Very impressive resort as you drive in. I rented clubs and a buggy, which were both a very high standad, as was the service from the pro shop, who were all very friendly. The course was immaculate, and everything looked after to the highest standard. Greens were lightning! Some very interesting holes out there, all very picturesque! Quite pricey for just the one round, works out a lot cheaper if you do a few, which I definitely will next time I visit!!
