Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

We stayed at Mount Wolseley Hotel Spa & Golf Resort, and while there are some positive aspects, our overall experience was unfortunately disappointing. The hotel is located in a very beautiful area and looks impressive from the outside. The lobby is also elegant, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, several issues significantly affected our stay. During our visit, the fire alarm went off three times, which was extremely disruptive and unpleasant. In addition, the mattress in our room was damaged, with a spring sticking up through it. We informed reception and were immediately offered a new room, even though it was already 9 pm, which we appreciated. As we had already unpacked and did not want to move rooms, we instead brought the mattress from the new room to our original one. Unfortunately, after this, every time we spoke to reception they seemed confused about which room we were staying in, despite us explaining it multiple times. Overall, communication between staff appeared to be lacking, and several issues we raised were never properly followed up. The hotel has a very nice spa, but access costs €30 per person. Given the condition of the free facilities, we strongly feel the spa should be included for hotel guests. The free swimming pool area was by far the worst we have ever experienced. Guests were required to wear a swim cap (which had to be purchased at reception), and the facilities were extremely unhygienic. One hot tub was filled with foam, suggesting poor chlorine control, and had brown residue around the edges. The small sauna was in very poor condition and looked close to falling apart. The ceiling showed clear signs of mold and mildew, and the entire area felt dirty and neglected. It is a real shame that these facilities have not been renovated along with the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the quality of the food in the hotel restaurant was also below expectations. Overall, the stay was acceptable, but there are too many unresolved issues. With better maintenance, cleaner facilities, and improved internal communication, this hotel could be much better than it currently is.

Got online deal for midweek break at great price. Pleasently surprised. Hotel was spotless clean and nice room also really clean. Great products in rooms that smell amazing and Irish company instead of usual cheap hotel products. Breakfast was great and staff friendly. Really fast smooth check in. Great receptionist Sinead. Got all Info we needed for where everything was and a really pleasant girl. Makes a big difference when staff actually seem to enjoy being there and are helpful. Booked dinner and was really helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Same girl on checkout and took time to ask did we enjoy our stay and was a genuine friendly girl. Recommend for quiet break, relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seats in bar.

My wife and I stayed for a spa break this week. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised that the lady on reception remembered us. We got a warm welcome and lovely to see you again from the girl with glasses and red hair, Sandra or Sinead? The room was really clean and the spa was nice and quiet. Exactly what you want after Christmas. I would definitely return because the staff aren't all kids and are happy and helpful. The breakfast had a great selection and plenty of everything. We still managed coffee and pastries at end of breakfast because they looked so nice. Again back to reception many times from lost my key, taxi, book pool etc and the woman on reception with the glasses and red hair was always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning again in the future.

We stayed for a spa break after the Christmas rush and had a wonderful stay. The nicest part was the girl on reception Sinead. She was so friendly, welcoming and gave us directions for room and restaurant. During our stay any time we went to reception for anything she was friendly and helpful and was a pleasure. I was having afternoon tea and noticed the same woman going back and forward moving big trolly with decorations from Christmas and still had time to smile and say goodbye to us as we left. The blonde woman who greeted us at breakfast was also lovely and we had another lovely girl serve us afternoon tea. The breakfast was the highlight in the food department and love the coffee machine with take away cups to finish breakfast with a really nice cappuccino in hand heading out for a walk. The friendly atmosphere and lovely staff made this a relaxing and enjoyable break. Very personable and customer focused front of house really set the tone and definitely would return again.

From start to finish, my recent stay at this hotel was absolute perfection. I booked a package that included a spa treatment, use of the thermal suite, a delicious two-course dinner, and an overnight stay and every element exceeded expectations.The room was beautifully presented and spotless, making it easy to unwind the moment I arrived. The room had bottled water, an nespresso and a very large bathroom 👌 The staff truly stood out with their warm, attentive service,nothing was too much trouble, and every interaction felt genuine and personal.I loved wandering the hotel’s scenic grounds, which were ideal for a peaceful stroll before enjoying some serious relaxation in the spa. The thermal suite offered the perfect atmosphere to switch off, and my treatment was both professional and deeply rejuvenating, leaving me feeling totally refreshed. Dinner was an absolute highlight, both courses perfectly presented and full of flavour. The calm, inviting vibe throughout the hotel made the whole experience feel special.Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with impeccable service, stunning surroundings, and pure comfort from beginning to end. A truly perfect stay.
