I spent 3 nights ghts 4 days here. While the spa and the rooms were fine, the hotel tries to make money with everything there is. They promote health benefits of their (paid) treatments, but alcohol is served and promoted in the restaurants and in their shops. The wifi is turned off at midnight for health benefits, but prosecco served when arriving - quite hypocritical. The food is very meat heavy and the wine pairing and the liquor offered after dinner is not at all beneficial for anyone's health. The daily newspaper (printed on new paper) promoted their daily sales activities in their shops. Visitors are supposed to buy useless rocks, alcohol, "fashion" and overpriced local products and additional treatments. As the surroundings don't really offer anything I felt trapped in a hotel that wants my money, not my health.
As a vegetarian, there is only one option that is very low on protein and heavy on the carb side (potatoes and pasta mostly). The starter each night is a buffet and there I could chose lentils, beans and other sources of protein to make up for their inexperience with vegetarian cuisine.
Besides the vegetarian option, the kitchen is very meat heavy and - again - not beneficial for anyone's health. The kitchen is Austrian food only and over the three days we stayed no other influences could be seen in their choice of dishes.
The hotel has the whitest crowd of baby boomers and presumably the hotels money hunger, the unhealthy food and the promotion of alcohol appeals to them, but I expected it to be more diverse and with an increased focus on health.
I would not come back.

The spa area is great, but thermal pool very crowded. Great sauna area, many options, huge offer for body and face massages and beauty packages. However, the whole experience doesn't justify the costs. The dinners menu is very nice indeed, we are sure the quality of ingredients is very high, however the food lacks in taste, with the exception of desserts, they were always impeccable!! 100 points for the pastry chefs! 👌 in comparison, the food in Retter is way better!
Generally, we felt like they try to capitalise too much on everything. The bottle of water strategically positioned on the table, for you to assume it's included in the price, then just to see the horrendous price for water on the bill. Is it really necessary? In austria where the tap water is one of the best in the world? Then increase the price over night but let guests have water consumption included in the dinner menu. Also, no water cooker, no coffee in the rooms? No ladies amenities in the toilets? This is not a 4* standard at all. We were generally disappointed by these details, there were too many to list them all. The rooms are old school and not fitting the price category. We spent several nights in there.
To summ it up, we will surely not come back as there are much better places in Austria for this price category.

Hotel Larimar in Styria is so much more than just a hotel — it is a true sanctuary of peace, health, and heartfelt care. From the very first moment, you are embraced by a feeling of calm, balance, and sincere warmth that makes you feel instantly at home.
A most special thank you to Familie Johann Haberl & Daniela Lakosche for their incredible hospitality and personal presence. The love, dedication, and individual attention they give to each and every guest are truly inspiring. Their heartfelt wish to make every guest feel happy and cared for is deeply felt — and they succeed beautifully.
The medical wellness and weight-loss programs are highly effective and thoughtfully designed. The approach is holistic, combining expert medical knowledge with natural healing methods. Even during a short stay, you can feel visible and lasting results — more energy, clarity, and a true sense of lightness. This is a rare and precious experience that supports long-term well-being.
The Ayurvedic treatments, led by a knowledgeable and compassionate doctor from India, are deeply restorative and uplifting. The combination of authentic Eastern wisdom with expert application is exceptional and, in my opinion, unmatched in Europe.
The culinary journey at Larimar is another highlight. Chef Josef and Sous-Chef Kristina create nourishing, delicious meals that are beautifully balanced to support your wellness goals. Each dish is prepared with creativity, love, and a deep understanding of healthy living. Dining here is a joy for both body and soul.
We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Barbara, Katharina, Brigitte, Viktoria, and Lena — your kindness, warmth, and gentle care made each day brighter and more meaningful.
To all the wonderful massage therapists, the spa team, and the many dedicated staff members whose names we may not know — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your energy, professionalism, and attention to detail create a unique atmosphere of harmony, comfort, and deep care. You are all an essential part of what makes Larimar so extraordinary.

And without any doubt — we will return to Hotel Larimar at the very first opportunity.

2nd stay, it is a nice hotel, with a great swimming area. But they clearly have issues to find trained staff and are not so adapted to families with babies. Despite what is indicated on the website, there is no baby phone available working further than 300 m... We lost a few hours trying to solve this problem, without success. But when we asked to give the room back 1 hour later on our departure day, we were told that we need to pay the late check out fee... Which is understandable on the principle, although hotels usually agree when possible to be a bit flexible. The baby table for lunch was also a bit of a problem (kids table rather than for babies). And a coffee machine in the room would be nice (I would expect it for this price). I recommand this hotel but would have appreciated a bit more help.

We spent here 5 incredible days. Yes, it is quite expensive but it deserves the money. What we liked the most is that it has a very positive energy and we liked very much the attitude of the staff: everybody was kind, smiling and very helping and it was not something acted it was something that came from the bottom of their hearts and the most interesting is that you could feel it is not fake. Very good kitchen, very nice rooms and amazing spa area.
