Hotel Barrosa Park

We stayed at Hipotel Barrosa Park for an 8-day holiday, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is very clean, well organized, and beautifully maintained. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, kind, and professional. We traveled with our children, and even though it was the off-season in December, the hotel arranged excellent activities and entertainment for kids, so we never felt bored. Our children really enjoyed their time. The rooms were very clean, neat, and tidy. The housekeeping and overall service were excellent. The food was amazing — the quality was outstanding, with a wide variety of options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests. All meals were served fresh and hot. Our kids especially loved the different kinds of sweets. The hotel offers both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, all very well maintained, as well as a spa and wellness center. There was live music every evening at the lobby bar, which added a nice atmosphere to our stay. Overall, the quality of the hotel and food was excellent. We would definitely recommend Hipotel Barrosa Park to families with kids, elderly guests, and couples. We would happily stay here again. Even on rainy days, the staff took great care of the kids and kept them busy with fun activities. The location was perfect. You can go for a relaxing walk by the sea, and it is an excellent spot to enjoy beautiful sunsets.

Everything in this hotel is absolutely perfect, from the very first welcome to the moment of departure. I stayed at the hotel in December, during the off-season, and despite that, there were various activities prepared for guests in the evenings, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The staff are outstanding – professional, friendly, and always ready to help. They speak many languages, which makes communication excellent and effortless. You truly feel well taken care of throughout your stay. The food is delicious and of excellent quality, with a wide variety of dishes prepared to a very high standard. The hotel also offers a fantastic direct connection to the beach, making it an ideal place for relaxation. Every detail of the hotel reflects a high level of aesthetics and quality, from the interiors to the overall atmosphere. The hotel is absolutely worth its price and offers an exceptional experience.

I visited Hipoltes Barrosa Park as part of a group of six Black girls, and our experience was extremely negative. It’s important for other Black travellers to know what we went through. Throughout our stay, we encountered repeated racism from guests. People laughed at us, pointed at us, and openly called us “las negras.” Guests came over asking where we were from and, when we said London, pushed further with, “No, where are you really from? Jamaica? Africa?” One of the most degrading moments was when someone approached us and told us to come downstairs to dance, as if we were there for their entertainment. The atmosphere often felt hostile and intimidating, and many of the guests (mostly German) made us feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. We did speak to the deputy manager, who was apologetic and told us to come to them if it happened again and to point out the individuals responsible. But that’s difficult when the behaviour is coming from so many people at once. It also became clear that the hotel is well aware of the kind of guests they usually attract. Most staff interactions were disappointing, though a few individuals were genuinely kind: the deputy manager, the receptionist on Tuesday who helped us with translations, and Nicola. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise Black travellers to avoid this hotel. It did not feel inclusive, respectful, or safe in any way. The air conditioning never worked throughout our whole stay despite reporting it numerous times.

We arrived and had bad luck with the room (no aircon and noisy) resulting in not much sleep and clearly not what we expected. After talking to the very friendly reception guys we got offered a more quiet room in another building and mechanics came to reset the aircon which then worked afterwards. We are thankful to the whole team. We would also like to highlight the service during meals, breakfast, and dinner. The staff are so warm and courteous. Every evening, they show angelic patience with some guests, whether they are overweight people who predatorily fish pieces of cheese and seafood out of the salads on offer, or people who have no manners or politeness at the buffet.

Such a lovely stay. This really is an extremely well managed hotel and a perfect getaway. The staff are wonderful - universally friendly, helpful and hardworking. The setting is perfect - just overlooking a lovely beach, and calm and quiet but with evening entertainment if that’s your thing. The pool, gym and common spaces are immaculately clean while the restaurant serves a great range of options. We had half board which we would completely recommend. The clientele is a mix of Spanish and German tourists, mainly. Overall, it’s calm and refined and everything is well-organised. This was our second stay here and we would gladly stay again.
