This was our fifth visit to the Grand Hyatt Kauai, which we continue to rank as our favorite Hyatt Hotel of all time. I know travel bloggers will disagree, as they point to the luxurious Park Hyatt Tokyo or the opulent Thompson Madrid as the top properties in the Hyatt porfolio. They're not wrong; those are fantastic properties, but when it comes down to the perfect intersection of relaxation, location, comfort, and romance, you just can't beat the Grand Hyatt Kauai. Yes, this property is probably ready for a renovation in a few places, but even in its current state (which isn't bad at all!), It's still perfect for a romantic couple's retreat to Hawaii. The pool system is unmatched, providing you with plenty of room to cool off. Whether you want a lazy river with a grotto or a saltwater pool with a view of the ocean, you can't go wrong. This is also one of the few "luxury" properties that doesn't rip you off with overpriced valet parking. In fact, you can self-park for free, which we greatly appreciate. The Grand Club is nice because it saves you money on breakfast and offers free drinks throughout the day. The staff there is incredible. A special shout-out to Jenny, who on our last day gave us a go-bag filled with some fruit and granola bars, which helped make our flight out of Kauai very sweet and memorable. You can also grab several hiking trails right from the property for some amazing coastal hikes. Highly recommend doing one of these if you want something interesting that doesn't require a vehicle. The only negatives I should mention: bathrooms are very dated, and the shower needs an overhaul for sure.

Rooms - 7/10 Customer service and staff - 10/10 Location - 10/10 Food - 9/10 - high quality, lots of variety, expensive (Standard Hawaiian prices) Amenities - 10/10 - Pools, lagoon and beach are unbelievably nice. Grounds and aesthetic - 10/10 - absolutely incredible and utopic setting. VERY well maintained gardens, ponds and grounds. With some room updates this would become a true 5 star. Not quite white lotus status, but the next approachable tier. Amazing location overall!

We stayed here for 6 days and 5 nights. The valet, front desk ans the grand club employees were phenomenal. But, one newest employee in the Grand Club stood out on even just his first day! Robin made it extra special for our family. He showed our kids the Native flower, Ginger, and made little fish out of plant leaves. He didnt just ignore the young ones but interacted with them and treated them like any other paying guests. Definitely the warm welcome that fits the vibe of the island. The hotel room itself, we had the partial ocean view, the room was spacious, the bath tub can use an upgrade, the chain lock for our door was lose with the screw sticking out. Would have liked having 4 pillows per bed not just 3. The amenities at the hotel was nice, with daily koi fish feeding, parrot exhibit, books and puzzles for borrowing in the cultural centre, its definitely a very family oriented resort. Plenty of complimentary lounge chairs at the lagoon and along all the pools. Lazy river was a bit overrated in our opinion but overall, we enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back again! Highly recommend attending the L'uau, great entertainment, pretty good food options and the open bar was worth it! Thanks again Robin for the hospitality.

Great location, nice beach and pools are beautiful but pool water can get chilly and sand pool is not always the cleanest due to poor quality guests. Adult pools are not heavily regulated as a father repeatedly took his toddlers with diapers and arm floats into adult pool and floating river despite signs. Captains bar has same food as the pool snack and food (Hale Nalu), nachos and poke tuna were solid options when enjoying the pools and beach. Tidepools restaurant was excellent, cuisine was well-prepared and fresh, service was top notch. Honolulu coffee shop was top notch too, freindly and professional baristas serving quality espresso. Landscape is well manicured and maintained, facilities were excellent. Luau did not meet expectations from a dining perspective, food was mediocre overall and they ran out of dessert before anyone at our table had even finished their meals. Luau food was a disappointment, however the Luau entertainers were great, the musicians were positive and having a good time which made the program light and enjoyable. While we were staying at the Grand Hyatt we checked out some bicycles and rode around the area, enjoyed some small classes and activities, and staff were helpful at every turn. Rooms were clean, only complaint was a useless mini fridge that did not keep food and drinks cold, had to walk down to ice machine each day and use zip lock bags to pack ice around food and drinks which made the lame in-room fridge a non-portable cooler... Resort location is at edge of town, near golf course so there are plenty of activities in the area to enjoy as well. Recommended.

The best experience for me and newly wedded wife’s honeymoon. We had an absolute stellar experience at this hotel and all of the amenities. Loved the pool and we used the hot tub every single night. Both restaurants were really great. We had Tidepools and the Library on two nights and absolutely loved the seafood. Breakfast buffet every morning was stellar, I had a salmon or mahi mahi salad every morning to start the day. On our last day, we accidentally left a bag at the hotel, and were very stressed out before calling the front desk. The hotel staff were so kind and showed over the top hospitality by immediately deciding to drive it over to the airport before we left on our flight. Incredible. We’ve never had a hotel staff show such warm hospitality, and it completely saved the end of our honeymoon trip! Highly recommend, will have a lasting impression on our new family 🙏
