Empordà Golf Club

I rarely leave reviews, but this was one of the most insulting and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had on a golf course. I booked this course online in advance as a solo and was paired with three others. I chose it specifically for the Dunes layout because I love links-style golf and was excited to play it as the final round of my trip to Spain. I drove over an hour, arrived early, paid for the range, warmed up, and showed up to the first tee 10 minutes early. I did every single thing right. At the tee, the starter told me I would need to go out alone. Anyone who actually plays golf knows that sending a solo out on a busy course means standing around for 10–15 minutes before every shot. I asked what happened to my booked tee time and was told it was “impossible” for me to play with my group. No explanation, no solution. I was then told to wait 10 minutes and that it would be fine. While waiting, three players walked up to the tee. When I approached them and introduced myself, they told me they were already a four ball. This was the exact group I was supposed to be playing with. They had added a fourth at the last minute without informing the clubhouse. Instead of enforcing their own tee sheet, the course allowed them to go out as four and simply bumped me entirely. No replacement tee time, besides going out solo. No accommodation. Nothing. The entire day was fully booked. When I went inside to ask how this could possibly happen, the staff could not have cared less. One woman told me “sorry, they’re members” and shrugged when I asked if that meant members could just ignore bookings and do whatever they want. That was the end of the conversation. This was not a mistake. This was a choice. A choice to treat a paying guest like an inconvenience and to prioritize members who showed zero etiquette or respect for anyone else. I’ve played a lot of golf all over and I’ve never seen a course handle a situation this badly. If you’re going to operate as a members-first club, then stop pretending you’re open to the public. Taking public bookings and then canceling them on the tee box is actually absurd. It was insulting and embarrassing with everyone around watching. The starter actually tried to make me feel bad and said "ok I'll go tell the fourth that he has to leave so that you can play, is that what you want?" What an absolute joke. If you’re a solo or a two ball, don’t count on actually getting on the course. Your tee time means nothing here. I will never return. Do yourself a favor and play Camiral instead. I've controlled myself here with my language, but man, you guys that run this place are terrible and so are you to the 25 yr old members that just disregard the rules. You are what's wrong with the game and so is the club for allowing it.

A nice and quiet hotel with spacious, clean rooms and decent breakfasts. However the food in the restaurant was extremely disappointing, which is unacceptable for hotel of a 4-star category. The only thing worth mentioning positively was the desserts they were quite good.

I played the forest course and it was amazing. The course was very well maintained making you play at least 10x better (simple math). The design of the course was also very refreshing and unique. Playing between the trees was nothing more than a delightful experience. Besides the expensive cost to play I do recommend this golf course. The restaurant had good food however the service was not great. Waiters would simply ignore us for half an hour.

The hotel and the facilities are really nice. If you are a golf fan, it is a plus. The staff treated us very well. Wanna give a special thanks and appreciation to Marina, as she was very professional and making sure everyone was enjoying and having a good time. P.S stunning sunrise views from the rooms

Amazing location! Feels like an oasis. Rooms are very nice with each of them having a good view of either the golf course or the surrounding area. Only point of critic would be the good which wasn’t outstanding. It’s of good quality, just not very impressive comparing to the rest of the hotels features. Selection at breakfast was also somewhat limited for the price of €19/person. Big bonus is also the giant, easy to access, free underground parking lot which has direct access to the hotel lobby. Overall we had an amazing experience and we’ll definitely be back!
