My partner & I had a beautiful stay at Das Goldberg as a surprise to celebrate our engagement. We booked the XL suite, which was stunning, spacious & warm with a hot tub on the terrace overlooking Bad Hofgastein. The attention to detail at Das Goldberg is superb, being both chic & homely. The spa we adored, particularly the GoldStollen, which is an amazing, unique space. The food was creative & of a high standard. Highlight of our stay though were the staff. Shoutout to Ronja & Thomas, who were delightful & really made our stay a special one. If you’re looking for a special stay in the mountains, you won’t do much better than staying at Dad Goldberg. Looking forward to returning again.

The hotel itself is a very nice one, offering a lot of amenities and being luxury. Our room ( tower suite) was fantastic, best we ever had probably.
Breakfast to Dinner ( incl small afternoon snack) was good, especially the breakfast had a lot to chose. The dinner unfort lacked a little bit of such options and kept on repeating very similar menus + the size of the portions was rather small so you would usually leave hungry.
The servers were always very friendly and doing their absolute best however it felt there were just not enough of them so you often had to wait to order or receive your food ( understaffed?).
The hotel itself claims to be top luxury, selling even their own merchandise at every corner possible, same time they are charging for every small detail such as add water, some fruitgums and whatever not ( at the paid prices some things could easily be included i believe, otherwise gets insane). Same time they dont accept american express as a payment method because they dont want to pay the charges ( very funny the other way round).
Ski/snowboard things you can rent DOWN the mountain which is 5min by car. Thats not an issue but the hotel claims its AT the hotel which its not ( and they also didnt offer to get the things up).
Hotel is directly built into the mountain and the skislope which is very nice but one should know that its a rather steep, red, icy slope and there is no way to get around it for beginners. You need to start and end here, whether you like it or not ( its just an info beginners should have).
All over we we really had a nice stay, the whole staff was friendly at anytime and the hotel offers a lot however it feels like the above needs to be said as there is quiet some room for improvement if you wanna be a 5 star hotel.

saw a similar comment about the same issue months ago…
The head waiter with glasses and bald head was really rude to our family. At lunch, we ordered a cappuccino, there were no small spoons provided so my 15 year old brother asked the head waiter for one. He was standing next to his counter, he picked up all the plates and walked away, after a good 5 meters he looked back and said “by the buffet, where else?!” This is so rude and not what we want! We already checked the buffet therefore we asked him! He then came back and asked if we found one and we said no. He then handed one to us from his counter where he was at the start? This is very confusing and not sure why he treated us like this!
10 Minutes later we saw another guest stop him in the middle of him walking with hand full of plates, he just stopped and started talking normally.
Why were we treated differently?
This is very unprofessional!
Side note: The first day of checking in, Found long hairs all over our pillow case? Very uncomfortable!

I had been looking forward to my stay at Das.Goldberg for months, but unfortunately the experience fell far short of expectations.
Rooms & Facilities:
Basic in-room essentials were missing—no coffee machine, and the TV didn’t function. The shower repeatedly turned cold mid-use, which is simply unacceptable. After raising these issues, we were offered a larger room at an additional €300 per night. That room was free of problems, but given the price already paid, this should never have been necessary.
Dining & Service:
The dinner service was average at best, no better than a routine Gasthaus. Far more disappointing was how my wife’s medical dietary restriction was handled. Despite notifying the hotel multiple times in advance and again on-site, the waitstaff were uninformed and unprepared. On the first night, no suitable alternatives were provided, leaving her unwell. The following day, Andreas did make an effort, and I would like to highlight Dave from the waiter staff, who showed kindness and professionalism in contrast to the overall experience. Still, the lack of allergy labeling on the menu and the constant back-and-forth to the kitchen revealed a worrying lack of preparation for guests with medical needs.
Overall Experience:
This trip was meant to be special, and instead it left us feeling let down. For €900 a night, this was a very poor deal. We have stayed at other hotels in Austria, such as The Pirer in Steiermark, which offers superior accommodations, food, and service at just one-third of the price. The contrast could not be clearer.
Conclusion:
Das.Goldberg presents itself as a premium destination, but in reality offers average service at luxury prices. While a few staff members such as Dave stood out positively, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. Guests looking for genuine value and attentive hospitality will find far better alternatives elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I wanted a short getaway in the Alps, so we decided on Bad Hofgastein and Hotel Das Goldberg. The hotel has a wonderful location, excellent facilities, and beautiful views, and everything is very clean and well-maintained.
What left us a bit disappointed, though, was the service. While I can't pinpoint a single specific situation, we just didn't feel that the staff's service lived up to the standard of a five-star hotel during our four-day stay. It's possible this was due to staff changes or preparations for the winter season, but it’s a shame that a hotel of this caliber doesn’t offer warmer, more attentive service.
Another thing we found inconvenient was the parking. There is a parking area in front of the hotel, but it's not covered and feels quite impractical, especially given how much rain and snow this region gets throughout the year. I feel each room should have its own designated spot, so guests don't have to wait for a space to open up or park farther away. For a hotel of this category, it really feels like a missed opportunity to make things easier for visitors.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and very "instagram-friendly." You can clearly see the attention to detail that went into creating something special. That's why it feels like such a pity when things like the service or the parking take away from the overall experience. Everything looks ready for a perfect stay, but those small issues hold it back.
All in all, we would still say the hotel is a beautiful place to spend time. With a little more warmth from the staff and a better parking solution, it could be an unforgettable five-star experience. On a positive note, I absolutely must mention that the soups were amazing—whoever prepared them deserves special praise.
