I felt like writing a review based on my personal experience during my stay in February 2026: the hotel is very neat, the food is incredibly delicious, homemade.
What I didn't like:
1. They didn't explain how to get to my room.
2. During a snowfall, they closed the ski slopes and didn't notify me. I should be able to find information by myself, even though the hotel is considered a ski resort and, in my opinion, there should be direct communication about conditions on the slopes.
2. They don't allow to order food and drinks in spa robes, even though the pre-lunch bar (which requires an extra fee!) is located right across from the spa. What exactly will happen if I eat in my robe?
3. A private instructor, paid separately 250€ for 2 hours - in case of unfavorable conditions (snowfall) - the money is not returned! and it is not possible to reschedule the lesson for another day or another time (what is my fault, weather conditions and why should I pay if the lesson was lost NOT MY FAULT?
3. Having booked a massage at the spa, I cannot reschedule and cancel it less than 12 hours in advance - what is my fault that the weather conditions did not allow me to ski at the planned time and in case of snowfall I would like to go to the mountains after lunch, I will reschedule the massage 7 hours in advance (the spa writes off the FULL COST OF THE MASSAGE, even if I did not attend it)!

Disappointing 5-Star Experience – Overpriced and Poor Service
We stayed at this supposedly 5-star hotel in Austria expecting a relaxing family ski holiday, but the experience fell far short of expectations.
The website showed rooms with balconies, which is why we booked – but the fine print said “balcony may not be available.” When we arrived and realized our assigned room had no balcony, we were unhappy and asked to leave or switch. Instead of trying to resolve it amicably, the staff immediately threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay 80% of the full stay. Only after we called their bluff (“go ahead and call”) did they magically find a balcony room in the same category.
Even after the switch, the damage was done – the whole incident ruined the start of our trip.
Other issues:
• No staff available in the evenings to discuss reservations – very inconvenient for a 5-star property.
• The ski lockers are tiny; fitting even 2 pairs of skis is nearly impossible, let alone for families with 3-4 people per room. We have no idea how others manage.
• The hotel feels seriously overpriced for what it offers.
• The restaurant looks fancy, but the food quality is average at best – well below the presentation and price level.
We tried to find a fair solution with management, but the aggressive approach (police threats instead of customer care) left a very bad taste. Wouldn’t recommend for families or anyone expecting true 5-star service. Avoid if you’re looking for value and hassle-free stay.

I absolutely loved my stay at the beautiful Schlosshotel Kitzbuhel. The staff were very friendly, the spa/ wellness area was one of the best I have seen, the food was very high quality and my room was lovely. The complementary shuttle was easy to get to/from the gondola and town and having an Intersport inside the hotel made picking up my rental equipment so easy and convenient. I couldn't fault my stay and hope to return.

One of THE BEST hotels i have stayed at. First of all its right opposite to the ski station! Offers lockers to store ski gears.
Food is really good. Loved the hummus at breakfast buffet.
Special shout out to the staff. So warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful. Made it feel like home. They also offered lunch packets for ski days if asked.
The rooms were decent and clean.
Massage sauna were amazing too. Had a small gym.

For a 5-star hotel, this stay was unfortunately abysmal. Staff appeared poorly trained and couldn’t answer basic questions (e.g., the location of the advertised dog exercise area or shuttle times to the Hahnenkamm gondola).
The reachability of staff was a disaster: the line was almost always busy and call-waiting seemed disabled. During my five-day stay I made around 50 call attempts, and fewer than a handful were answered. Even an average Airbnb host is easier to reach.
The hotel feels dated and worn, and the room lacked expected amenities (no streaming, coffee machine or kettle). The minibar was extremely limited and there were no snacks. Even my request to provide different beverages (which I would have paid for) was refused.
The “king-size bed” turned out to be two single mattresses and two separate duvets, which was uncomfortable and misleading for a proper king setup.
Breakfast was fine. Dinner quality was good, but the buffet format removed any charm and felt rushed - disappointing at this price point. This mattered less to me as I hadn’t planned to eat at the hotel anyway, but half-board was mandatory.
The spa area is good, but it does not make up for the severe service and organizational shortcomings.
As a final issue, I was presented with over €900 in incorrect charges at checkout (e.g., Christmas buffet, decorations,..), despite not staying over Christmas. It was resolved after 15 minutes as a “system error.”
Conclusion: not 5-star quality.
